Building Political Power for Asian Texans

Our Voices. Our Power

Asian American Texans are one of the fastest-growing political forces in the state—we’re 2 million strong and counting. Yet, our voices remain underrepresented. But we have the power to change that. 

AAPI eligible voters in Texas grew by 74% from 2010 to 2020 — more than three times the statewide eligible-voter growth rate. AAPI youth also make up a major share of the state’s AAPI citizen voting-age population. In 2024, AAPI Texans cast an estimated 527,000 ballots and expanded their statewide vote share to 4.6%, representing one of the most significant growth trends of any racial group in the state. 

Our power is growing, and Asian Texans ARE the margin of victory.

This growth is especially important in places like Harris, Fort Bend, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, Travis, Williamson, Bexar, and Brazoria counties — counties where AAPI communities are large, growing, and often under-contacted by traditional statewide campaigns. Many of these communities also face barriers that require more intentional engagement, including language access, limited in-language political communication, and lower levels of direct contact from campaigns and parties.

For a competitive statewide campaign, sustained AAPI civic engagement is not a symbolic add-on. Asian Texan voter engagement is a necessary investment in a community that has the power to decide competitive statewide elections.
